The SchoolFinder Group of websites (SchoolFinder, ScholarshipsCanada, and StudyinCanada) saw over 140,000 students sign up in 2019. Upon signup, we ask students to share their interests, including field of study and degree level. We use these interests to match them to schools, scholarships, and careers, to help them get a sense of where they can study, how they can pay for it, and what to do after graduation.
This data can be extremely valuable to institutions that are trying to recruit students to certain programs, as well as figure out where demand will be for the following year.
Since we engage roughly 1/3 of all Canadian students going on to post-secondary education, and thousands of international students looking to study in Canada, we are able to get a good sense of the popular fields of study throughout the Canadian education system.
The data is based on the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) list that was developed by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) in the United States and adopted by Statistics Canada. We have broken the data down for you by CIP field of study, career category, degree level, and country.
